Salma Hindy is a first-generation Egyptian-Canadian comedian and actor based in New York City. She stars as the lead voice in Ramy Youssef’s new A24/Amazon adult animated series, #1 Happy Family USA, recently nominated for a Gotham TV Award for Breakthrough Comedy Series. Salma has opened for Chelsea Handler on her last two tours and has performed at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal (New Faces 2020, Chelsea Handler Gala 2021).
She is currently training at the William Esper Studio in New York. Salma is a Canadian Screen Award (CSA) winner for her writing on This Hour Has 22 Minutes. Her debut comedy album, Born on 9/11, has received rave reviews and has been playing on SiriusXM since 2022. Salma's TEDxTalk, “Why People Pleasing is Hurting You,” shares the emotional journey behind her start in comedy.
Salma took to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2023 performing a two-person dark comedy show called "Parallel" (recommended on British Comedy Guide).
