Singer-songwriter, bandleader, father, friend and Guelph mainstay Mike Sharp is well-known to savvy listeners for his thoughtful joining of lyric, melody, rhythm and harmony to create something not available to us any other way. Mike Sharp and Local Honey's music is literary, catchy, with a point of view on the highs and lows of life. Kind of folk, kind of punk, a bit of rock and roll. It's a celebratory sound that is documented on the artist's anticipated new album Dreams & Dirt, whose vinyl edition will be launched at this show. Produced by Nick Craine, the album is a collaboration with many local friends and sessional musicians, including Mike Ostler, Brad Holy, Meghan Shuebrook, Harri Palm and Thomas Hammerton. It's also his first solo album in almost two decades.

NQ Arbuckle is a Toronto songwriter (aka Neville Quinlan) and namesake of a twice JUNO Award nominated Toronto band. His 2002 Six Shooter cult classic debut Hanging The Battle-Scarred Pinata, produced by Luke Doucet, launched a fervent fanbase devoted to shouting his lyrics back at him, an impressive collection of print clippings, and a sporadic touring career in which NQ Arbuckle careened from Italy to Northern Alberta, Huntsville to Nashville. On “Love Songs For The Long Game,” Doucet returns as producer. Recorded at The Bathouse in Kingston, ON and mixed by Howie Beck, new music also features playing by original members of NQ Arbuckle band Peter Kesper and Mark Kesper, and superlative keyboard player Robbie Grunwald. Drunk dudes from Huntsville or Lethbridge or St. John’s or wherever hang on every word. Everyone sings, mostly louder than the band. Every show is an uprising, a groundswell. Don’t let the self-deprecation or inebriation imply that NQ Arbuckle isn’t serious about the music. This band has earned multiple JUNO nominations, considerable critical praise (Pitchfork, Globe and Mail, Toronto Star etc.), and a legion of rabid fans. NQ Arbuckle has consistently created impressive, treasured albums for more than a decade. But NQ Arbuckle has never made a record like this before.
