JACOB RIVER MILNES WITH GUEST KIP JAMES — LIVE AT MILLS HARDWARE!
Jacob River Milnes is an Americana/country guitarist, singer, and songwriter originally from Val-des-Monts, Quebec, and based in Montreal. Standing at an impressive 6'5", the 23-year-old guitarist commands attention, projecting a strong stage presence with an air of mystery. He captivates audiences wherever he performs and is praised for his unique way of modernizing traditional country and electric blues through richly poetic lyrics and undeniable guitar mastery. His songs and stories evoke the musical legacy of his idols—including Waylon Jennings, Albert King, Bob Dylan, and Vince Gill. Milnes' career has taken off in recent years; he has notably benefited from mentorship by Juno Award-winning artists Sienna Dahlen and Ariane Moffatt, while honing his guitar skills under the tutelage of professor Gary Schwartz. In 2026, Jacob was nominated for the Oscar Peterson Award at Concordia University, and in 2024, in anticipation of the release of his album Sidewalk Rose, he had the honor of opening for Canadian country music icon Fred Eaglesmith at Ottawa's CityFolk Festival. His performance was praised by media outlets such as the Ottawa Citizen and Radio-Canada. Looking ahead, Milnes is currently finalizing new music slated for release in the fall of 2026 and is excited to embark on two mini-tours in August and November. In 2027, Jacob plans to release a new full-length album, ramp up his touring, and continue building strong connections within the country music industry, both in Canada and beyond.
