Join us as we launch the 2025 Chicago Blues Festival with a powerful opening night celebration at the historic Ramova Theatre. In partnership with WVON 1690AM, this special evening pays tribute to Chicago’s enduring legacy as the home of the blues—where the genre’s past, present, and future converge.

The night begins with The Blues Sessions: A Living Blues Panel, moderated by the esteemed Dick Shurman, bringing together influential voices to explore the heart and evolution of the blues. Then, enjoy an intimate “Up Close & Personal” conversation with legendary bluesman Bobby Rush, presented in partnership with the Recording Academy – Chicago Chapter.

Capping off the evening is a double-bill concert featuring Chicago’s own Billy Branch & The Sons of Blues, followed by a headlining performance from the incomparable Bobby Rush.

This event is free with RSVP.

Early arrival is strongly encouraged—entry is first come, first served and subject to venue capacity. RSVP is required for entry. This is a standing room event with limited seating available.

Celebrate the soul of the city—where the blues lives on.
