OFS Live at the Midway:
Did you forget what musicians look like in person? We almost did too! Meet us at The Midway and remember what it feels like to hear live music in person! We’ll be hanging out at the Midway starting at 6:30pm on Wednesday 10/21 and Thursday 10/22 waiting to share music, laughs, and community! AND THERE’S MORE. Join us for this event and experience live music (at a safe distance) with a specially curated menu developed just for OFS! Members of One Found Sound will be performing string quartets written by Black female-identifying composers, including Jessie Montgomery’s “Strum” and Florence Price’s String Quartet in G Major. We cannot wait to see you!
About One Found Sound:
One Found Sound is a conductorless, collaborative chamber orchestra that was created in 2013 to revitalize the experience of both the modern listener and the modern musician. Our orchestra aims to create a comfortable, intimate, and relaxed performing atmosphere. We perform (in non-pandemic times) standing up, without a stage, in close proximity to our audiences, and we have a no-rules policy (this one still applies ;)): we encourage audiences to keep their phones out if that's what suits them, or to clap or vocalize if the music so moves them. One Found Sound believes that you don’t need to know anything about classical music to be moved by it, and we strive to bring the joys of this repertoire to as many people as possible.
We cultivate performance spaces that are equally appealing to seasoned concertgoers seeking new experiences and classical music newcomers alike. One Found Sound promotes equity and collaboration through bold, inclusive performances. The orchestra brings impactful programming to casual, unexpected spaces while reimagining the boundless unifying energy of orchestral music. Operating democratically without a single music director, our musicians are fully engaged in the entire concert production experience. We democratically select our repertoire and rehearse our pieces, presenting an exciting and fully collaborative product to our audience at each performance.
One Found Sound believes that truly engaged musicians mean truly engaged audiences. Because we perform in close proximity to the audience without a conductor, audience members can see the interactions between players, the musical line passing from one instrument to another, and the physical way a symphonic work is built by combining each individual player together to create one sound.
