Come celebrate a legendary chapter of Maine’s music history while supporting the next generation of local recording artists! To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Rustic Overtones’ landmark album ¡Viva Nueva!, each of its 16 songs has been assigned to a different contemporary performer — with contributors including The Fogcutters, Angelikah Fahray, Alma June and the Persian Cats, Midnight Breakfast, Kenya Hall, Cilla Bonnie, Primo Cubano and Melvin Gradiz. Conceived by Equal Measure Arts founder Sam Monaco and produced in collaboration with Grammy-winning songwriter and bandleader Dave Gutter, this community effort brings together multiple generations and genres of Maine musicians to revisit the 2001 record featuring David Bowie, Imogen Heap and Funkmaster Flex. On November 5, hear the debut of fresh takes on these songs performed by Lolabelle, ENiAM and Jaylen White, plus some surprise special guests! Proceeds from the forthcoming tribute album will support Equal Measure Arts’ mission to expand access to professional recording, mentorship and music education for local students and other emerging artists.
