The Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour is landing at Wynn Las Vegas - and you can experience it live!

From July 16 to 20, 2025, the world’s best grandmasters face off in the most thrilling chess format on the planet: Freestyle Chess - where there's no opening prep, no safety net - just raw talent, bold moves, and high-stakes drama.

Over five electrifying days, 16 elite players battle it out for glory in a format designed for tension, risk, and entertainment.

Doors open at 10:00 AM local time - giving you time to explore, settle in, and soak up the atmosphere before the games begin at 11:00 AM. Play typically wraps up between 4:00 and 6:00 PM.

Day 1: Round Robin (Wednesday, July 16)

The action kicks off with all 16 players split into two groups loaded with talent. Each group plays a fast-paced 7-round Round Robin (10+10 time control). The top 4 in each group move to the Quarter Finals, while the rest fight for survival in the Lower Bracket. Every move counts.

Day 2: Quarter Final (Thursday, July 17)

The knockout stage launches with best-of-two clashes in 30+30 time control. The top performers from the Round Robin get to choose their opponents from the opposite group - a twist that adds mind games to the mix. The winners move on to the Semi Finals. Losers fall into the Intermediate Round or go home.

Day 3: Semi Final (Friday, July 18)

With everything on the line, the Semi Finals take center stage. The winners earn a coveted spot in the Grand Final - just one match away from becoming the Freestyle Champion. Meanwhile, in the Lower Bracket, the fight is far from over. Players battle to stay in contention for third place, knowing that every game could be their last. 

Day 4: Intermediate Round (Saturday, July 19)

It’s a double-header of high-stakes action. In the morning, the final survivors in the Lower Bracket clash in rapid-fire 10+10 duels. In the afternoon, they take on the Upper Bracket Semi Final losers in a battle for a shot at third place. The two Grand Finalists? They get a well-earned break — but don’t tune out. They’ll be watching, analyzing, and stepping into the spotlight as guest commentators.

Day 5: Final (Sunday, July 20)

It all comes down to this. Four high-stakes battles determine how it all ends. At the top, the Grand Final crowns the Freestyle Chess Las Vegas Grand Slam Champion - a best-of-two clash with 30+30 time control. The Bronze Duel, also at 30+30, decides who takes third place. Meanwhile, the Fifth Place Match and Seventh Place Match (both 10+10) rounds out the rankings. Every match is a best-of-two sprint. No second chances. No hiding. Just pure chess at the highest level.
