Celebrating 50 Years of The Last Waltz | 22 Years of a Colorado Tradition

Back in 2005, Denver’s “number one jamband,” Polytoxic, set out to create a one-night celebration showcasing the incredible community of local musicians they had shared stages with over the years. Their idea: recreate The Band’s legendary farewell concert, The Last Waltz—the historic 1976 performance immortalized by Martin Scorsese and featuring an extraordinary lineup of guests including Eric Clapton, Dr. John, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters and more.

What was intended to be a “fun little show” quickly became something much bigger.

The first Last Waltz – Revisited took place May 25, 2005, at Dulcinea’s in Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. The show sold out almost immediately, surprising the musicians and fans alike and becoming the biggest event Polytoxic had ever produced. The response was so overwhelming that they brought it back later that same year, moving the celebration to Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom on the night before Thanksgiving.

A Colorado Thanksgiving tradition was born.

More than two decades later, Polytoxic’s Last Waltz – Revisited has grown into one of Colorado’s most anticipated annual musical celebrations, bringing together an extraordinary community of musicians and generations of fans for sold-out performances year after year.

2026 marks two major milestones: the 50th Anniversary of The Band’s original Last Waltz and the 22nd year of Polytoxic’s Last Waltz – Revisited.

To celebrate, this year’s production will be bigger than ever—featuring more than 60 guest musicians from across Colorado, a full horn section, special guests from years past, and more than 30 songs from The Band’s legendary catalog, with a special focus on the music performed during the original Last Waltz.

For the musicians who take the stage and the fans who return each year, Last Waltz – Revisited has become much more than a concert. It is a celebration of Colorado music, friendship, community and the timeless songs that inspired it all.

This year will be a true Evening with The Last Waltz – Revisited: Celebrating 50 Years of The Last Waltz.

MUSIC. COMMUNITY. GIVING BACK.

The tradition also continues its longstanding support of the Denver Rescue Mission. Fans who bring canned food donations to the show will receive a FREE Limited-Edition 50th Anniversary Last Waltz – Revisited poster, while supplies last.

All donated food, along with a portion of the event proceeds, will benefit the Denver Rescue Mission.

Join us for an unforgettable evening celebrating 50 years of The Last Waltz, 22 years of Last Waltz – Revisited, and the incredible Colorado music community that has made this tradition possible.
