Through interviews with industry workers, historians, local leaders, and families impacted by the changes, Kern Oil offers a rare inside look at an industry often misunderstood, and asks an important question:

As California continues to rely heavily on petroleum while restricting in-state production, the film explores the environmental, economic, and human costs of importing oil from regions with far fewer protections.
