THE YAGAS
An audacious new band with otherworldly origins, The Yagas borrowed their name from a mystical being who’s long haunted the dreams of frontwoman Vera Farmiga: a Slavic folklore figure known as Baba Yaga, believed to devour the souls of the newly deceased and safeguard the fountains of the waters of life. Led by the Oscar-nominated actress and produced by her husband, synthesist Renn Hawkey (formerly of famed alt-metal band Deadsy), the upstate New York-based five-piece – also including guitarist Mark Visconti, bassist Mike Davis, and drummer Jason Bowman – wholly share their namesake’s storied penchant for shapeshifting, morphing from metal to industrial to wildly extravagant alt-rock as their songs journey into the strangest depths of the human psyche. As shown on “The Crying Room”—the band’s inaugural single (released October 2024) and first glimpse at their forthcoming debut full-length album Midnight Minuet, recorded at local Dreamland Recording Studios, due out Spring 2025 —The Yagas embody a potent duality of shadow and light, ferocity and tenderness.

Formed in 2023, The Yagas took shape soon after Farmiga and Hawkey enrolled their son and daughter at Rock Academy, a Woodstock-based music school run by Bowman and also attended by Visconti and Davis’ children. After playing together in the school’s adult program and discovering an undeniable musical chemistry, the five parents began collaborating on original material. Not only an echo of their music’s emotional complexity, The Yagas’ similarly wondrous multidimensionality has much to do with Farmiga and Hawkey’s divergent musical backgrounds. When matched with the restlessly inventive yet highly sophisticated musicality of Visconti, Davis, and Bowman—all lifelong musicians with decades of experience and an affinity for genre-bending experimentation—the result is a truly singular aural experience, endlessly unpredictable but infinitely propelled by the spellbinding force of Farmiga’s vocal work. Serpentine guitar riffs, moody synth lines, tempestuous rhythms, beguiling vocals… welcome to The Yagas’ elaborate sonic world.

ROSEGOLD
Hailing from the storied woods of upstate New York near Woodstock, ROSEGOLD is a rising force in the grunge and alt-rock scene. Formed in 2023 by five young musicians who met through the showband program at Rock Academy Woodstock, the band radiates a dynamic mix of raw talent and emotional depth. The name “ROSEGOLD” evokes a sense of melancholic beauty that perfectly mirrors their sound—melodic, heavy, and full of poignant contrasts.

Fronted by singer and rhythm guitarist Connor Mahoney, ROSEGOLD also features lead guitarist Fynn Hawkey, bassist Ben Visconti, drummer Milo Liberman, and keyboardist Philip Latham. With ages ranging from 16 to 18, the band draws from influences like Jeff Buckley and Stone Temple Pilots, weaving their inspirations into a distinctive and emotionally resonant musical identity.

ROSEGOLD is currently putting the finishing touches on their seven-track debut album, produced by Fynn Hawkey and recorded at the legendary Dreamland Studios and set for a spring release. As heard on their upcoming singles, the band’s music delivers a powerful interplay of melancholy and catharsis, channeling the restless energy of youth into something timeless and transformative.
