Sun Ra founded the Sun Ra Arkestra in Chicago in the mid-1950's.Sun Ra was among the earliest pioneers of the synthesizer and the free
jazz revolution of 1960’s. Sun Ra sent a strong spiritual and musicalmessage to his Arkestra wanting them to help make the universe better
through positive vibrations and music.
The Sun Ra Arkestra are known worldwide for their live shows thatcombine big-band swing, space-age jazz, singing, dancing, chanting and
Afro-pageantry. The Arkestra has been at the forefront of Afro-futurismsince their inception.
The Arkestra have recorded more than 100 albums. Their 2020 album"Swirling" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Big Band Jazz Ensemble recording.After more than 60 years the band continue to travel the globe on theirInter-Galactic tour. Recent highlights include shows at the Kennedy Center
with Solange, The Berlin Opera House, the Burlington Jazz Festival and aNew York City show at Radio City Music Hall.
The Sun Ra Arkestra 2023 schedule included the Big Ears Festival, fournights at SF Jazz, a US West Coast Tour, a Canadian tour and a tour ofItaly.In 2024 they will be performing at the Jazz & Blossoms Festival inWashington, DC, The Ecliptic Festival in Hot Springs, Arkansas, twoEuropean tours and a benefit show for the Trombone Shorty Foundationin New Orleans.

Ryley Walker is an accomplished fingerstyle guitarist, singer, and songwriter from Chicago whose music and evolution as an artist have proven mercurial. He moved from noisy avant-garde work in his nascent stages into virtuosic guitar playing and floating spiritual pop that traced lines between Bert Jansch, Van Morrison, and somehow even the Dave Matthews Band. Walker's love of the DMB was highlighted in his dark interpretations of their songs on the 2018 covers album The Lillywhite Sessions. A series of adventurous collaborations followed before Walker returned to original solo work on 2021's Course in Fable.
