About Lisa LeBlanc

Lisa LeBlanc moves effortlessly between French and English, creating a unique and instantly recognizable musical world. Alternating between banjo and electric guitar, she delivers a memorable and spontaneous performance every time. The Acadian singer-songwriter is known for her musical twists and turns, exemplified by Chiac Disco, released in 2022. The danceable, shimmering album earned her two Félix Awards, an ECMA Award, a Juno Award nomination, and a spot on the Polaris Music Prize shortlist.

In 2027, she will unveil Patchwork, an album whose origins can be traced back to the jam sessions that shaped her youth in her hometown of Rosaireville, New Brunswick. These include late-night kitchen parties that stretched into the early hours, with parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins playing various instruments while Lisa’s grandmother played piano.

In 2012, the Acadian singer-songwriter released her debut French-language folk-rock album, characterized by lively banjo playing and the offbeat, self-deprecating humor for which the Acadian people are known. Shortly afterward, the self-titled album was certified platinum, taking the young artist’s career to a new level. She won the Félix Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, received a Juno Award nomination, and, most importantly, charmed French-speaking audiences everywhere.

Lisa LeBlanc surprised audiences in 2014 with Highways, Heartaches and Time Well Wasted, an English-language EP that brought the raw energy of punk rock together with her signature banjo. Two years later, she returned with Why You Wanna Leave Runaway Queen?, incorporating electric guitar into her repertoire and earning her first Polaris Music Prize nomination. The singer-songwriter went on to perform at festivals across North America and Europe, while also taking part in traditional music sessions everywhere from Prince Edward Island to Ireland. Her career could have taken a different direction, but after selling more than 155,000 albums and accumulating over 60 million online streams, it was time for Lisa LeBlanc to reconnect with her musical roots.

Patchwork, due out in January 2027, unfolds like a travel journal. Recorded in Moncton and Louisiana, the album brings together Acadian and Cajun fiddle, banjo, and electric guitar across songs that evoke everything from nighttime drives and mountain hikes to kitchen parties and moments of quiet reflection. Its title is a nod to the quilts Lisa’s grandmother has been making for more than five decades.
