LeakyCon seeks to pay tribute to the Harry Potter phenomenon by giving fans an exciting new way to experience the fandom, surrounded by rich details, immersive storytelling, friends, and fellow fans.

Big Gigantic, whose blend of mind-bending beats, thunderous bass, and frenetic melodies has developed a rabid following since forming in 2008, will take their sound to yet another dimension this October when they release 'Nocturnal.' The album, by Boulder, CO-based saxophonist/producer Dominic Lalli and drummer Jeremy Salken, solidifies Big Gigantic as a key player in the worlds of electronic, dance, and hip-hop.

With a provocative sound that's as thoughtful as it is danceable, Big Gigantic's new songs like "Nocturnal" and "Hopscotch" weave whirling melodies into addictive beats and samples that wouldn't sound out of place on a Kanye West or LCD Soundsystem single. No genre is off-limits for Big Gigantic, whose breakthrough sound channels everything from funk and dub-step to house and hip-hop.

After graduating with a master's degree in jazz at the Manhattan School of Music, Lalli relocated to Boulder and began performing with Salken, experimenting with the idea of interpreting traditional DJ-based music with live instruments. The duo built up early hype in 2008 with local shows and one-offs around the country before releasing their debut album 'Fire It Up' in 2009 and embarking on a full US tour.

Already a smash on the festival circuit, Big Gigantic's transcendent live shows are a showcase of brilliant improvisation and a tightly-knit bond between Salken and Lalli, who breathlessly alternates between keys, sax and laptop, building a futuristic wall of sound that keeps the crowd on its feet. The marathon shows feature a variety of songs new, old and unreleased, as well as outside-of-the-box remixes including Wiz Khalifa's "Black and Yellow," Aloe Blacc's 'I need a Dollar,' and Notorious B.I.G.'s "Notorious Thugs."

Young Fathers are DEAD.

Or, rather, DEAD is Young Fathers. Their first full-length album, released in February, 2014, on Anticon and Big Dada has been given the kind of critical appraisal normally held hidden in the filing cabinets of dusty music journos and only brought out, along with the bottle of fine blended whisky for those special occasions, those special rock occasions. You know the kind, when a credible bunch of guitar, bass and drum twenty-somethings from some northern town in the UK or from Indianapolis USA put something together in the studio that reaches out and reminds everyone that modern life isn’t rubbish. Which is a weird reaction for a group who sit in some non-categorisable space between genres ancient and modern, who take hiphop and pop and dip it in a tie-dye mix of Ronnettes and krautrock and ragga and dub and post-punk and afropsych… and make something, something, something.

GeekyCon celebrates everything about being a fan. It blends the nerdy fun of a Comic Con with the community and excitement of South by Southwest in a uniquely intimate environment where fans can finally be their true selves — where that is the coolest thing in the world to be!

Once upon a time, GeekyCon was called “LeakyCon.” The idea for LeakyCon was born on the eve of what some said was the end of the Harry Potter fandom. It was 2007, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows had just been published, and a small group of staff members from popular Harry Potter fan site The Leaky Cauldron sat in a crowded hotel room during Prophecy, a fan convention in Toronto, Canada. Reliving their experiences from the weekend, the Leaky Cauldron staffers, including GeekyCon’s future Executive Directors Melissa Anelli and Stephanie Dornhelm, decided that by combining their favorite aspects of existing conventions with the special feeling of community found within The Leaky Cauldron website, they could plan a convention for Harry Potter fans that was unlike anything anyone had seen before. And so, LeakyCon was born.

The first LeakyCon took place two years later in Boston as a Harry Potter convention, and now, five conventions and two continents later, Leaky has grown with us as we’ve come to realize just how much we all truly have in common. In 2015 we will return to Orlando, a very special place for us, where we realized the immense potential for powerful experiences that occurs when you mix fandom, community, and belonging. In 2014, LeakyCon changed its name to GeekyCon to better encapsulate the geeky spirit so vibrantly a part of the convention. In past years, GeekyCon has hosted incredible talent, including Broadway veteran Anthony Rapp, many Harry Potter actors (Evanna Lynch/Luna Lovegood, Devon Murray/Seamus Finnigan, and more), and A Very Potter Musical creators Team StarKid. The 5th annual Culture Collide Festival will return to Los Angeles October 16-18, bringing three days of incredible music, art, food, and more to Echo Park. Josh Gard has had a long history in music. Just a few short years ago he donned the name Figure and began making electro house, but has since become a regular name in all realms of electronic and dance. Scoring positions among the charts may have gotten him recognition, but a hefty amount of praise has been raining down on him lately as some of the leading artists in electronic music have valued his live performance skills as some of the best in the business. 

In 2011, his Monsters of Drumstep series married his love of horror with his immense production skills to become the soundtrack for the Halloween season. Figure created his own imprint, DOOM Music to house the Monsters series which has now become an annual release. In 2013 FIGURE's monsters series became the official soundtrack to Universal Studio's Hollywood Horror Nights theme park. 

Figure recently signed with OWSLA to release "Horns of the Apocalypse". Horns of the Apocalypse showcases FIGURE'S evolving sound and take on 4/4 dance music with his lead single Eagle. SGC is a gaming convention like no other! It's a three day party where gamers from around the world can come together and share their passion for video games. We're happy to announce that SGC 2015 will take place July 17th - 19th, and will be at the Embassy Suites Dallas-Frisco/Hotel, Convention Center and Spa, located in the north Dallas suburb of Frisco, Texas. 

Terms and Conditions:

As SGC continues to get bigger and better, we want everyone to feel assured of their freedom to have fun in a safe environment. Whether this is your first SGC or your fourth, it would be good to familiarize yourselves with some general rules to keep the convention floor free of any misunderstandings. We will have volunteers, security guards, and Dallas PD in the event that an issue would arise. Listed below are the guidelines for attending the convention and being respectful to those who attend it with you.

Do NOT steal - This rule is pretty self-explanatory and applies to the items in the game room, vendor goods in the dealer room, table top room supplies, and anything not on your person. Basically... if it isn't yours, keep it that way.

Do NOT consume alcohol publicly - Now I know you're freaking out, but if you were drinking some tasty lager from your homeland and a TABC officer sees you, we all could be in trouble.  Please realize that even though we're inside a building, it is illegal to bring in adult beverages from outside the hotel and consume them on the show floor. You can do whatever you want in the privacy of your rooms and if the hotel sells a can or bottle of a particular booze, then you may walk around with it. Same goes for glasses provided by the hotel. There. We said it, we're covered! What do from here is all on you.

Do NOT do drugs - Drugs are bad, m'kay. If we have any reason to suspect you're a hazard to fellow con goers because you're under the influence of a controlled substance, your badge will be taken will be removed from the event. This also includes being caught consuming or dealing a controlled substance on the show floor. Just don't do drugs at SGC.

No acts of violence will be permitted - That means no fighting, no violent threats, no physical assaults, no purple nurples, no playing the "Circle Game", no snake bites, and no roshambo-ing. We want a good clean con, keeping everything above the belt, and making the floor safe for peoples of all ages. If you cannot commit to that, then you'll have to leave. Orchestrated cosplay combat will be allowed, but again, don't let it get out of hand.

Be considerate of each other - Look, we're all here to have fun. Simply put, don't be a jerk.

Check your cosplay weapons - If you come to the convention as Lara Croft, Ryu Hayabusa, or any other weapon wielding badass; be sure to have your weapons checked at weapons check. They will make sure there aren't any sharp edges or dangerous moving parts, and then put a cute neon zip tie on it. That way when Dallas PD is hanging out on the show floor, they won't assume that gun is real and tackle you in front of your friends. 

Sleep in your room - YOU CAN NOT SLEEP IN THE GAMEROOM, PANEL ROOMS, MOVIE ROOM OR ANY OTHER ROOM

Also new for this year,  Luminaria will be staged at various areas throughout downtown. This year the festival focuses on River North, a beautifully restored area and embracing new development at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts and the Southwest School of Art.  Luminaria will enrich San Antonio’s landscape with original artworks and it will redefine downtown by attracting the public to vibrant new cultural zones.  Luminaria will serve as an annual catalyst for rediscovery.

The new Luminaria is guided by a five-year strategic plan that aligns with San Antonio¹s downtown development goals and informed by local participants.  As San Antonio becomes a leading edge creative city, the plan envisions Luminaria working with diverse community, municipal and corporate stakeholders to ensure a long-term investment in local arts that helps define downtown as an internationally renowned destination for culture and entertainment.

While Luminaria remains a free event, a select number of VIP packages and ticketed events will be offered this year.

The tape reads Biography. Pop it in. Rewind. Press play. A whiskey voiced narrator starts speaking as the hazy images come into focus.

“It’s 2010. Zeds Dead is about to play one of their first shows in the basement of a dive bar in Toronto. Behind the brick walls and the unfinished ceiling exposed wires hang freely. The air smells of beer, smoke, and sweat. A crowd is lined up outside, flasks hang from their back pockets and cigarettes from their lips. Abandoned drinks rest on the lip of the dj booth while joints get sparked in the corners. The tiny room is packed. Nobody quite knows how to describe the music yet. When Hooks and DC start their set the earth trembles. The air becomes charged and almost sexual. Everyone goes crazy. You feel the music in your bones. Your marrow shakes.
You don’t know what they will play next but you know it might just change your life. Everybody at those early shows could tell - these guys are gonna be big." 

Fast forward a few scenes.

"It’s 2013. Zeds Dead is killing it. They’ve got an enormous catalogue that includes remixes for some of the biggest artists out there, and releases with the most credible labels in the game. They've accumulated hundreds of millions of views online. They play tours of over 70 dates to hundreds of thousands of people. Fans love their shows, critics love their creativity, and heads love their production. They’re big. Really big."

Rewind again. Further than before.

"The date’s not important. The place is Toronto, Ontario, Canada. TeenagersZack Rapp-Rovan and Dylan Mamid are introduced - they hit it off immediately over a shared love of classic hip hop, music production, and digging through crates. They join forces and call themselves Mass Productions aka MP Records. Dylan becomes DC and Zack becomes Hooks. They work out of DC’s often smoky garage. Critiquing, dissecting and swapping samples. They grow with every tune. They get on a level where their combined sound is unified and strong. MP releases an LP of hip hop instrumentals called Fresh Beats. It’s a pivotal moment for the duo."

Feed Me’s Family Reunion is jam packed with eight fresh electro tracks.  Led by “High-Speed Weekend Survivor,” fans will quickly notice that Jon Gooch is back with his iconic, in-your-face electro and even more madness.

The remainder of the EP shows there’s more to Gooch as an artist, from the glitch house of “Stay Focused,” to hard-hitting bass tracks like “Schizoid” and “Red Clouds (Serious Ting),” to even a touch of sultry dancehall vibes in “Life Raft.” Feed Me has also called on the vocals of Nina Nesbitt who drives the big summer festival anthem, "What It Feels Like.”

Earlier this year, Gooch surprised the world by releasing a brand new Feed Me single “Trouble” with KANEHOLLER, which was supported by a small North American tour. The tour was followed by a massive collaboration with Kill the Noise, “I Do Coke” and a controversial video to match.

Speed League is an international motorsports league recently founded by (Red Bull) Global Rallycross Championship creator Brian Gale.  Our highly respected personnel have deep experience in event production, sports media and competition management in all major forms of international motor racing. Building on the League's role as a sport organizer for X Games motorsports, we are partnering with ESPN to develop a slate of fresh events that appeal to a younger, more energetic and diverse audience.

Featuring marquee action motorsports heroes, our competitions will include genres gaining popularity: off-road trucks, rally car racing and UTVs. We will also be introducing new unique concepts; such as a short-course muscle car racing series.

Each event will be unique and will demonstrate a level of quality and professionalism that currently does not exist in the alternative motorsports space. Custom built fan friendly venues will be in exciting locations and the race tracks will feature dimensional elements to highlight driver skill and capabilities of the world-class race vehicles. Racing action will be balanced with other activities such as live music, action sports and car culture elements to make for a full entertainment weekend.

When is Nights Of The Jack?

Nights of the Jack takes place from October 3rd - November 3rd. The venue opens a 6pm nightly and our first designated time slot is at 6:30pm. Advanced ticket purchase is required. Please do not arrive any sooner than 30 minutes prior to your designated time slot.

How long does the experience take to see?

The trail itself is a 1/2 mile long walking trail and it is self-guided. Visitors are welcome to experience the attractions at their own pace. Most guests spend 1-1.5 hours on the grounds engaging in our activation zone before or after they walk the trail. Enjoy a variety of food and beverages, watch nightly live carving, capture those instagramable moments, join in the fun with interactive experiences or visit The Spookeasy Bar” for a seasonal cocktail to take with you on the trail!

Is Nights Of The Jack scary? 

Our trail experience is not scary but can be spooky in a few places. Our activation zone may contain some optional, scary interactive experiences for more mature children and adults. 

Does Nights Of The Jack have Food and Beverages?

Food and beverages will be available for purchase on site from a rotation of LA’s top food trucks and vendors. We will be serving hot and cold seasonal beverages. There will also be seasonal alcoholic drinks for purchase for those 21+ years of age at one of our “Spookeasy” Bars.

Is the event for all ages? 

ALL ages are welcome to attend our event and there is truly something to enjoy whether you are old or young. Age classifications for this event are INFANT- (0-2 YRS), CHILD- (3-12 YRS), ADULT- (13 & ABOVE)

Is Nights Of The Jack stroller friendly? 

Yes, we are stroller friendly.

Is Nights Of The Jack A.D.A. accessible? 

There are a variety of areas that contain different types of terrain throughout the grounds. Most of the trail is on asphalt; however, please keep in mind, some areas may be slightly challenging to navigate. If you have any concerns, please reach out us at INFO@NIGHTSOFTHEJACK.COM

What's the refund policy?

All tickets are non-refundable. Our show will operate rain or shine so please dress accordingly for the weather. 

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Yes, each ticket has it's own QR code for entry per person. 1 Each person must have a ticket, its not necessary to match the name to the attendee.

What can I bring into the event?

YES- Small purses, strollers, small wagons

NO- Large backpacks, professional recording devices, digital equipment, flashlights, weapons or sharp objects of any kind, mace, spray bottles, promotional items, outside food or beverages will be allowed on the grounds. Please leave these items in your car or at home.

Is there security at Nights Of The Jack?

Attendees will pass through a security check-point prior to entering our activation zone. Please downsize any purses or bags you are bringing with you. All bags will be searched.

There are no pets permitted on the grounds. Only guide dogs for the blind and service animals for people with disabilities will be permitted in accordance with ADA requirements.
