The Axwell & Ingrosso train just keeps on moving forward. First they announce they will officially be releasing an album together, next they finale the Governor’s Ball in New York City with an unforgettable set – their first one as a duo – and debuted some impressive and highly anticipated material. After the demise of the EDM epic-ness that was Swedish House Mafia a little over a year ago, ex-SHM members Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso (who have long been friends since childhood) couldn’t be kept apart for long. They made the bold move of merging their artist profile pages, erasing their respective solo histories in favor of the new journey forward as Axwell Λ Ingrosso.
First Tracks Off Axwell Λ Ingrosso
Their first song, ‘This Time We Can’t Go Home,’ has received some serious rave reviews, with the hypnotizing chorus, “We come, we rave, we love.” Axwell & Ingrosso aired the song on Zane Lowe’s radio show on a BBC channel in London a few weeks back, and then surprised fans with a free download of the new single on Soundcloud. Their first album as a band, self-titled Axwell Λ Ingrosso, will come out some time this year. This album is especially exciting since the trio that was Swedish House Mafia never released a complete album in the past despite their massive selling and performance success.
In anticipation of their upcoming album, Axwell & Ingrosso have gotten creative in their promotion efforts. There is now an Axwell Λ Ingrosso app for free download in the iTunes App Store, giving fans a unique way to connect and show their support. This app allows users to apply different colored Departures filters and Axwell Λ Ingrosso song lyrics to either a selfie or preexisting photo. Enhanced pictures can then be shared on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Additionally, app users have first-hand access to the latest Axwell & Ingrosso announcements like news updates, tour dates, and new track releases.
Axwell & Ingrosso also painted The Big Apple with their Departures logo, sending fans on a scavenger hunt to find the lyrics to their new single, ‘On My Way.’ They placed maps with clues and directions to where the verses could be found in NYC, and 5,000 of the fans that participated and shared their findings received special packages from the creative duo. The packages contained some variation of personal letters, shirts, sheet music, lottery tickets to win a flight, posters, and other goodies as rewards.
The Axwell & Ingrosso team also gave a special Gov Ball preview of six new songs they’ve been working on, heightening the anticipation for the upcoming album, which promises nothing short of their previous SHM magic. There will be powerful vocals that give a viral pop potential, while still upholding the EDM standard and spirit of house music. If you want a little taste test of the new Axwell & Ingrosso work, treat yourself to a Vegas vacay and grab a ticket to see them at LIGHT Nightclub this upcoming EDC weekend for their first ever North American nightclub performance as a pair.
